“The most basic of all human needs is the need to understand and be understood.”
—Ralph Nichols
LET’S START WITH THE BASICS…
My name is Kyle G. Erickson (KGE). I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) in Washington State. For 25 years, I’ve helped adults, couples, families and high school aged teens.
I see clients in-person at my Maple Valley office and remotely through video telehealth calls. I offer traditional therapy as well as single-session therapy. My therapy style is friendly and collaborative. I believe humor is healing and I make room for it in my work.
My treatment specializations include:
- Therapy for Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar Depression, and OCD, including Primarily Obsessional OCD (Intrusive Thoughts)
- Couples Counseling
- “Failure to Launch” or otherwise known as “Complex Transition to Adulthood” help for parents of highly dependent young adults
- Self-Esteem, Self-Worth & Identity Concerns
- Relationship Concerns solo work: for when the other person can’t or won’t participate (friends, family, romantic, co-workers)
- Stress Management
- Anger Management
- Parenting Concerns
- Grief Counseling
Please peruse my website and reach out if you think I could be a fit for your needs. I offer a free phone consultation to connect and answer any questions.

“We try so hard to hide everything we’re really feeling from those who probably need to know our true feelings the most.” —Fred Rogers

“To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.” —Oscar Wilde
NOW LET’S GET PERSONAL…
“Shopping for a therapist is not a fun activity for most people.” —Kyle G. Erickson
For starters, a problem exists, if not several problems. The issues are not going away and attempts to solve them are not working. What do we (we being you) do? Well… you’re visiting this site, so you must be considering seeking guidance from a therapist.
You’re taking a courageous first step. Picking a therapist can be vulnerable.
Picking a therapist can also be a bit of a gamble. But not in the sense of playing slot machines or scratch lottery tickets. More in the sense of playing a hand of cards, where good strategy and careful decisions can lead to a much better outcome.
I want you to find success, find relief, and find solutions to your problems. I may or may not be the best fit for you. One size does not fit all when it comes to therapy. What I can do to help is provide a fairly robust website that goes into some depth about me, my approach, and the methods I use.
To be clear, my use of stick figure art is meant to reflect my playful side, but it also represents some serious and sometimes sad themes many of us experience. Therapy is no joke and I take the work I do with clients seriously, and yet sometimes we are fortunate enough to find something to smile about as we make our way through the pain.

We can never obtain peace in the outer world until we make peace with ourselves.”
